lead by facilitators from the Canadian Cancer Society, Nancy Shelford and Salley Errey:

Workshop objectives (from handout): "The collaboration primer was developed out of a grant to harmonize health promotion strategies in northern BC. The team sought to study the processes of collaboration, document strategies that support and sustain collaboration, and develop a guide for others.

This workshop will develop community capacity around collaboration, increasing knowledge about the collaboration and utilizing the Primer. It will also generate discussion on possibilities for implementing collaborative activities within specific   communities.

The Primer includes necessary factors for effective collaboration, a readiness assessment, organizational considerations around planning, implementation and evaluation, and strategies for sustaining collaborative efforts. In order to develop community capacity around collaboration, this workshop will guide participants through the key features of the Primer and will also include interactive activities to encourage community-specific strategies for utilization. Workshop participants will walk away with a better understanding of what successful collaboration requires, new tools to support their next partnership project, and ideas for collaborative possibilities within their community."
